Transport strategy development

The Institute for Sensible Transport draws on its expertise in integrated transport and land use planning to develop comprehensive, sustainable transport strategies for local councils and large scale residential and retail developments.

Our strategies have a focus on maximising the efficiency of existing infrastructure and diversifying transport choice. This enables the development of a resilient system, able to meet the emerging challenges posed by climate change, rising fuel costs and the need to create liveable communities.

Integrating cycling with public transport in Victoria

The Institute for Sensible Transport has been commissioned by the Victorian Department of Transport to undertake a technical evaluation of the carriage of bicycles on regional public transport. The report seeks to better understand current levels of integration between cycling and public transport and forecasts estimated demand to 2020. It will provide a range of options for improving conditions for Victorians wishing to combine cycling with regional public transport. The report is expected to be handed to the Government in mid-2010.
