Monash University Bicycle Strategy
Client: Monash University
The Institute for Sensible Transport, in partnership with GTA Traffic and Transport are currently producing a Bicycle Strategy for Monash University, Clayton Campus.
With over 22,000 students, Clayton Campus is a major destination in the south east of Melbourne. The majority of these students arrive by car.
To reduce the environmental impact of car use, Monash University have commissioned us to develop a strategy that, when implemented, results in more students travelling to Monash by bicycle.
Project deliverables:
- Analysis of current transport behaviour and attitudes related to cycling
- Assessment of current bicycle infrastructure in and around the campus
- Identification of gaps in the bicycle infrastructure network
- Developing a feasibility study of a first class end of trip facility on campus, incorporating secure bike parking, showers, lockers, change rooms and bicycle retail opportunities.
- Identification of strategies to increase the awareness of cycling as an option for transport to/from the university
- Provision of advice regarding monitoring systems for bicycle use
- Development of detailed, specific and practical recommendations to increase cycling to/from Monash University.
